« Abdoulie Ndure, my guide, was amazing in all respects. He has deep knowledge of the birds, is extremely good at spotting and identifying them, and knows where to find them (some in semi-secret places). In six days in The Gambia, we saw about 200 species, including 14 families of birds new to me. Some of my favorites were the Egyptian plover, white-spotted flufftail, standard-winged nightjar, African finfoot, white helmetshrike, exclamatory paradise whydah, and all three turacos. We created a buzz in the birding community with the first sighting (and photographs) of Denham’s bustard in The Gambia in 25 years.
Beyond the birds, Abdoulie is an outstanding traveling companion: a great sense of humor, always enthusiastic, attentive to his clients’ suggestions and needs, and an excellent driver. He introduced me to his country, friends, colleagues, and even his family. Both the birding and personal experiences were memorable in so many ways, different and more interesting than what is provided by high-end foreign guiding services (e.g. RockJumper).
Abdoulie must be one of the best guides in all of The Gambia and Senegal. If you are planning a trip to this region, I cannot recommend him highly enough. He can arrange anything and everything to ensure that you have a remarkable experience. »
